Check the whole laundry process
Confirm whether the washing machine is inside the apartment, in a shared facility or available elsewhere. Ask whether use is included and whether detergent is supplied. A laundry symbol can refer to a paid service rather than a machine guests can operate themselves.
Find out where clothes can dry. A washer does not imply a tumble dryer, and a compact drying rack may hold less than a full family load. Check any building rules about using balconies or shared spaces for laundry.
Choose the day before packing
For a seven-night stay, a wash around the middle can support a smaller set of everyday clothes. Keep enough essential items to cover the time needed for a load to dry. Avoid scheduling the only wash on the final evening, when damp clothes may need to go straight into a suitcase.
Plan around the garments you actually bring. Delicate or bulky items may not suit the available machine or drying space. Read care labels and appliance instructions rather than assuming the quickest cycle is appropriate for everything.
Keep the first load manageable
On arrival, locate the machine, controls and drying equipment before buying a large pack of detergent. If instructions are unclear, ask the host. Do not experiment with unfamiliar controls when a simple explanation would prevent a problem.
If the laundry arrangement differs from what was confirmed, discuss the available alternative early. A nearby service may help, but its hours, cost and turnaround need checking. Laundry planning works best when it includes drying and timing, not merely the presence of a washing machine in a photograph.
Leave room for a changed plan
Build a small reserve into the packing list rather than reducing it to the exact number of items before the planned wash. A machine problem, a late return from a day trip or slower drying can move the schedule. Keep laundry from taking over the final day by washing a manageable load earlier and leaving only a few items for later. That preserves the benefit of lighter bags without making every day's clothing depend on an appliance working at a particular hour.
